They like a good BBQ or Parilla – especially at Independence Day on September 18th.
Churrasco Italiano is also popular – a huge Chilean sandwich made up of layers of avocado, thin strips of beef, sliced tomato and a bit of mayo. Fuenta Alemana in Providencia makes the best.
Empanadas are also excellent – like small cornish pasties and traditionally made with meat, onion, black olive and a bit of egg.
But the most surprising fact was how they like their coffee. In the day in Santiago its common to enjoy a breakfast coffee in a Cafe con Piernas. Literally a ‘coffee with legs’ due to the attractive ladies who serve you. In a bikini. Sounds more exciting than Starbucks.
Our breakfast however will be a Cabernet one as we start tasting at 8.15am sharp with the La Rosa team who make our Chapel Vineyard wines. Coffee with Legs will have to wait for another time ...
