La Clariere. Chai

Showed the troops around La Clariere. In the vineyard, tell them how it all came to be and that if Grandmother hadn't decided to rescue a lost French lady in Windsor none of us would be here.

Big crop this year but ripening behind where it usually is.

Hot sun is trying tho'.

Take them through the cuverie and down the spiral stairs through the rock into the bat cave. Leave the lights on low. Always think would make a spectacular night club ...but just the slumbering barrels for now. Demonstrate mediaeval quarrying.

After droning for an hour, release them to go to the Chai au Quai. Mark will do the chat there.

Join for a nice long trestle-table cold dejeuner in the Grand Chai with the big doors open and the river looking lovely.

We had (mostly): Roussanne from Couusergues (La Roussanne du Baron), Syrah de Folie, V.O, Grace de l'Hermitage

We pour the tired folk back on the airport bus and go - even tireder - to collapse in deck chairs. Holiday begins.
