Gatwick in the dark. "Appallingly early flight" according to a Captain who does a good Basil Fawlty; "Obliged to tell you this is a smoke free flight...done that! Pleasing weather in Bordeaux".
No breakfast; much influenced by one painful comment in the feedback from recent 'Focus Group' survey on Laithwaites; "Lose the fat bastard", People are so cruel.
No breakast is a hopeless gesture. The resolve never survives first contact with Castillon market ... tomorrow. My doctor says I need to lose a stone ... but that I never will.
Hardly anyone seems to have picked since last week. What a change! A few years ago grapes as black as these would've been picked two weeks ago. Now it seems its become the thing to just hang on. Like we are all playing a viticultural game of 'chicken'. So there are going to be some VERY strong wines made. Unless God tips a load of water on us or bad botrytis sets in.
