Hill Of Doom

Morning on the Hill of Doom (steep) vineyard bringing in most of the Cabernet (Franc). Much assisted by Tanja from Germany (runs our office there) and some of the good people from 'Die Welt am Sontag'. Gosh they have energy. Anglo-American-Aussie-German team sorts the fruit after lunch.
Anyway, they really speeded up the process so there's only a bit left for tomorrow. I'll be able to skive off and go make my Adieus to all, for tomorrow PM I fly home.

Bernadette is outstanding today with a wonderful Paella. Despite the physical labour these last weeks the fact that I am only comfortable in my tracksuit with the elastic waistband indicates I've probably put on a stone or so this harvest. So now the Fat B is even fatter. So certainly in one sense a 'great' vintage. Probably in the real sense too; small berries, virtually all well overripe, but very healthy. My hunch is lush, lip staining, fat, round wines to enjoy sooner rather than later.
