Andy's first lamb of the year appeared two weeks ago. But it still gambols alone in its field. Mother must've got out for a night before she was supposed to.
Still, it's a nice sign of spring.
St Botolphe is encouraging everyone around Nettlebed to come and see his impressive snowdrop display at Swycombe. Spring sign again.
I've been writing all morning about Beaujolais (for another upcoming offer of Cru's). These wines make me think of spring too. It was always a bit of a mistake to focus everyone's attention on Nouveau Beaujolais in November. Bit of fun but not at all what Beaujolais can do when it really tries. And wrong time of year. Britain doesn't much do the Nouveau anymore. (The Japanese do! They charter many Jumbos! They'll learn.) Beaujolais is best drunk in the spring. When it is the wine world's equivalent of snowdrops and crocuses. Nice with a bit of young lamb too!
Oh how CAN I be so cruel?
